13 Aug 2008Estonian cat-dog social network United Dogs and Cats is creating huge waves in Latin-American countries such as Colombia, Chile and Venezuela.
Manager of United Dogs and Cats, Ragnar Sass says in Colombia alone the company’s Spanish sites have 20 000 users, in Chile and Venezuela there are approximately 10 000 users. 3000 new registered users are added in Latin-America each week.
Results of uniteddogs.com and unitedcats.com already exceed the results from the equivalent Estonian sites the company has, claims Sass, indicating that the Estonian cat-dog rate is past its prime popularity in the country.
The fast growth in the number of users also enables some money to be made. “This niche network aimed at animal owners can turn users into money quiet well. At the moment, we’re in the process of activating certain services in Latin-America such as text message payments, mini payments, Internet advertising etc,” Sass notes.
United Dogs and Cats has opened environments in 15 languages, Japanese and Italian sites were set up recently. The total number of relevant registered users exceeds 100 000 and there are users in 212 countries.
This rapid growth even exceeds that of the main competitor Dogster and Catster that is set up in English only and is especially popular in the US. United Dogs and Cats is the property of Ragnar Sass, Martin Tajur, other founders of the company and Ambient Sound Investments – the investment company of the founders of Skype.
