Former leading engineer of Skype, Toivo Annus has invested into an undertaking that focuses on electronic ticketing and payment solutions. It’s called Poohtech.

Poohtech has been involved with electronic ticketing in the public transportation in Tallinn, Estonia. But now the company has come up with an interesting solution for neighboring market Latvia.

Poohtech launched a service in Latvia, they call it Cmart. It enables Latvians to pay their bills in local newsstand chain Narvesen. Bills coming from all sorts of service providers (telecom, security, energy etc) have bar codes that are scanned in and paid accordingly.

Cmart says by letting people to pay their bills like that, it makes their life much easier. That needs to be seen in the context of who are these people that are not paying their bills electronically in 21 century anyway? In Estonia and probably also in Latvia these are elderly people.

Cmart aims to expand its business to other markets also. Poohtech says on its website that if one should have an idea how to make ticketing and payments easier for people, let them know. Maybe it can be done together.
