Estonian technology stories

Surprise-surprise – Estonia, member of Nato, with the population of only 1,4 million, has its own tiny defence industry. The flagship inventor there is ELI – market leader in The Baltics to develop and produce simulators and other training systems for police and defence forces.
Simulators, meaning virtual battlegrounds is one thing ELI knows about. Soldiers in Estonia, Georgia, Latvia and United Arab Emirates use Estonian simulations. But the giant Saab and many other companies know about simulators as well, so for a small company from Estonia, it is pretty difficult to compete in the global market. Even if it has the best software in the world.
But the one thing nobody else knows better than ELI is how to get perfect recoil and reload solution to use it in firearms in simulators. One option is using laser beam, but it doesn’t create the real impression of shooting.
ELI has invented and patented an unique way to recoil and reload – they use CO2 gas for that. See the demo video, where Gerry Saarep from ELI shows the solution they have sold all around the world – to France, UK, USA, Malaysia, Columbia, United Arab Emirates etc.
Another Estonian company in the “battle front” of Estonian defence industry – Rantelon – I have already written about. The post is here.
